TOUR OF KREMLIN GROUNDS
The Kremlin (kreml means a citadel or fortress) is still very much the heart of Moscow as well as one of the most famous Russian landmarks. The small city in the centre of Moscow, once the residence of Czars and Patriarchs, was built by Italian engineers in the mid XVth century although foundations of the first wooden fortress had been laid in 1156. Since the XVth century, the Kremlin towers have been witness to many dramatic events-insurrections, assassination, murder, sieges, victory parades and religious procedures.

TRETYAKOV GALLERY AND PUSHKIN FINE ARTS MUSEUM TOUR
The Tretyakov Gallery houses the greatest collection of the Russian art in the world (totalling 50 000 paintings) presented to the city of Moscow by the merchant P.M.Tretyakov in 1892. The Tretyakov Gallery houses a first-class collection of works of Old Russian art which includes unique mosaics, frescoes, icons, miniatures and objects of decorative arts. Many of them have become historical relics, an integral part of the national spiritual tradition. The tradition of icon-painting came to Rus from Byzantium along with acceptance of Christianity. However, the selection of the ideological and artistic legacy of Byzantium led to the creative interpretation of their models.
SERGIEV POSAD TOUR
Sergiev Posad (Zagorsk) is situated 72 km northeast of Moscow on the Yaroslavskoe highway. Sergiev Posad is a traditional orthodox centre, graced by the magnificent Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, with a blue and gold dome. Built in the fourteenth century, it was for many years, even under communism, the official seat of the Patriarch. There is a wonderful collection of icons on display.
NOVODEVICHY CONVENT
